3D Stereoscopic Grading and Finishing
MAY 2011The Look is 3D Stereoscopic ready!

As the 3D market in the UK continues to grow, we have installed an SGO Mistika 3D/2D finishing system.  Our two existing Quantel Pablo suites which are used for drama and commercials have also had their 3D toolsets installed, giving The Look three 3D Stereoscopic suites with the two best toolsets in the post production world.

Colourist Thomas Urbye will be brought in to use the Mistika for 3D client attended grading for commercials, trailers, features and major corporate projects, and a team of highly skilled Mistika and Quantel operators will service the conforming, geometry fixes, vfx and depth grading.

The new 3D Stereo department at The Look is headed up by Dan Marbrook, who’s background in tapeless broadcast and post production producing means he is perfectly placed to launch the department. MD Thomas Urbye says “Dan has spent six months investigating the UK and world-wide 3D Stereoscopic market for us. After many meetings and consultations with the leading 3D professionals we felt the time was right to make this very exciting step. The creativity which 3D offers to the director, stereographer and colourist can not be underestimated. Having a third dimension gives us the chance to offer the viewer a truly immersive experience which has not been possible before. With broadcasters like Sky and TV manufacturers willing to make huge investments in the technology, it is now time for The Look to work with them to create the content that will drive people to the world of 3D and see it as the future for cinema and home viewing, which I believe it is. We have been fortunate to work on some of the best television drama going through the UK right now, there is nothing I want more than to be a part of the 3D revolution.”
